Question 1

What is Fexodat 180mg Tablet and what is it used for?

Accepted Answer

Fexodat 180mg Tablet is an anti-allergic medicine that contains fexofenadine (a second-generation antihistamine). It helps reduce symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria, such as persistent, itchy red or skin-colored raised welts (hives). It works by blocking histamine (a chemical released during allergic reactions).

Question 2

What should I tell my doctor before starting treatment with Fexodat 180mg Tablet?

Accepted Answer

It is important to inform your doctor about any existing medical conditions and medications. This includes kidney disease, as dose adjustments may sometimes be needed while taking Fexodat 180mg Tablet. Also mention if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Providing a complete list of prescription or non-prescription medicines to your doctor helps identify potential interactions.

Question 3

What if I forget to take a dose of Fexodat 180mg Tablet?

Accepted Answer

If you miss a dose, take it when you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time. Since Fexodat 180mg Tablet is usually taken once daily, maintaining a consistent schedule helps ensure symptom control.

Question 4

Who should not take Fexodat 180mg Tablet?

Accepted Answer

People who are allergic to Fexodat 180mg Tablet should not take it. In individuals with kidney impairment, reduced clearance of the drug can occur, and dose adjustment may be considered depending on the severity of the condition.

Question 5

Does Fexodat 180mg Tablet interact with other medicines or food?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Fexodat 180mg Tablet may interact with other medicines such as antacids, erythromycin, and ketoconazole. It is always better to consult your doctor and provide a list of all prescription and non-prescription medicines before taking Fexodat 180mg Tablet. It is generally recommended to avoid fruit juices (such as grapefruit, orange, or apple juice) around the time of taking the dose, as these may reduce absorption.

Question 6

Can I stop taking Fexodat 180mg Tablet if I feel better?

Accepted Answer

Take Fexodat 180mg Tablet exactly as directed to help manage your allergy symptoms. This medicine relieves the signs of an allergic reaction but does not treat the underlying cause; therefore, you can stop it when your symptoms have improved. If your symptoms recur after stopping the medicine or persist despite treatment, contact your doctor for further evaluation.
