Question 1

What is Fudic Cream and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

Fudic Cream is a topical antibiotic cream containing fusidic acid, which belongs to a class of medicines that help stop the growth of bacteria on the skin. When applied to the affected area, the active ingredient works by interfering with the way bacteria make proteins, slowing or stopping their growth so your body can clear the infection. This makes it useful for treating certain bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, infected dermatitis, or superficial folliculitis.

Question 2

For how long is it required to use Fudic Cream?

Accepted Answer

The usual course of treatment with Fudic Cream depends on the type and extent of the skin infection. Your doctor will tell you how often to apply the cream and for how many days. It is generally recommended that you continue using it for the full duration prescribed, even if symptoms start to get better early, because stopping too soon may leave the infection partly untreated.

Question 3

What precautions should I take while applying Fudic Cream?

Accepted Answer

Before using Fudic Cream, wash and dry your hands and the affected area. Apply a thin layer only to the infected skin and avoid contact with eyes, inside the nose or mouth, and other sensitive areas. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Do not bandage or cover the area unless your doctor tells you to, as occlusive covering may increase absorption and irritation. If you notice persistent irritation, rash, or signs of an allergic reaction, stop using it and contact your healthcare provider.

Question 4

What is the meaning of drug resistance?

Accepted Answer

Does it mean that even Fudic Cream may turn ineffective? “Drug resistance” refers to the ability of bacteria to adapt in ways that allow them to survive exposure to an antibiotic that once worked against them. With topical antibiotics like Fudic Cream, bacteria may become less sensitive if the medicine is overused or used inappropriately, reducing its effectiveness against certain infections. This is why it is important to use Fudic Cream only for the infection for which it was prescribed and to complete the full course as advised. Prolonged or repeated use may increase the risk of resistance.

Question 5

When should I stop using Fudic Cream?

Accepted Answer

If you experience severe irritation, swelling, itching, a rash, or other signs of a skin allergy at the site of application, stop using Fudic Cream and speak to your doctor. You should also stop and seek medical advice if your symptoms do not improve within a few days of starting treatment or if they worsen, as this may indicate the infection is not responding or another condition is present.

Question 6

Is Fudic Cream effective against fungal or viral infections?

Accepted Answer

No, Fudic Cream is formulated to treat bacterial skin infections and is not effective against fungal or viral infections. This means it should not be used to treat conditions like athlete’s foot (a fungal infection), warts, or cold sores (viral infections). Using it in these situations is unlikely to help and may delay proper treatment.

Question 7

Does Fudic Cream cause skin thinning like steroids?

Accepted Answer

Fudic Cream contains an antibiotic, not a steroid. Steroids are known to cause thinning of skin with prolonged use, but fusidic acid does not have this steroid-like action. That said, any topical medicine can sometimes cause local skin reactions such as irritation or redness. If you notice persistent skin changes at the application site, discuss them with your healthcare provider.

Question 8

Is Fudic Cream safe for use on the face?

Accepted Answer

Fudic Cream can be used on the face if your healthcare provider has prescribed it for a bacterial infection in that area. However, you should avoid contact with the eyes or mucous membranes.

Question 9

Can Fudic Cream be used on infected eczema?

Accepted Answer

In certain cases, Fudic Cream may be used if eczema becomes infected with bacteria and your doctor recommends it. Topical fusidic acid targets the bacterial component of the infection. It is not a treatment for eczema itself, but may help when a secondary bacterial infection is present.

Question 10

Can I use Fudic Cream on an open wound?

Accepted Answer

Because Fudic Cream is used for superficial bacterial skin infections, it may be applied gently to small, superficial cuts or grazes if a doctor has prescribed it. However, it should not be used on deep, large, or heavily weeping wounds without medical advice. Applying topical antibiotics to deep or significant wounds should be guided by a clinician.

Question 11

Can Fudic Cream be used on private parts?

Accepted Answer

Use of Fudic Cream in sensitive areas, such as the genital or groin region, should be done only if your doctor specifically prescribes it for a confirmed bacterial infection in that area. These areas have delicate skin, and inappropriate use can increase irritation or sensitivity. Your healthcare provider can advise on safe and appropriate management if a confirmed infection is present.

Question 12

Can the Fudic Cream be used for the elderly and children?

Accepted Answer

Fudic Cream can be used to treat bacterial infections in everyone, irrespective of age. Use it under medical supervision only.

Question 13

What information do I need to share with my healthcare provider before I start using the Fudic Cream?

Accepted Answer

Inform your healthcare provider about any allergies or reactions you might have with any medication or with the Fudic Cream. Also, give a complete medical history to the doctor and let them know about any surgeries you had in the past. Tell them about any herbal or medical supplements you may be taking presently.

Question 14

How many times is it recommended to apply the Fudic Cream in a day?

Accepted Answer

You can apply the Cream about 2-3 times in the day. If your physician prescribes otherwise, follow their instructions.

Question 15

How long can you use Fudic Cream?

Accepted Answer

Treatment with Fudic Cream is usually for 1 or 2 weeks, although sometimes it can be for longer, depending upon the severity of the skin condition. Hence, it is advised not to use the same for longer than the prescribed duration, without consulting a doctor.

Question 16

Can Fudic treat fungal infections?

Accepted Answer

No, Fudic is not effective against fungal skin infection. It is intended for use in treating bacterial infections of the nails, cuts, grazes, spots and various skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, impetigo.
