Question 1

Can I self-administer the Lupi-HCG 5000 Injection at home?

Accepted Answer

No. Lupi-HCG 5000 Injection must strictly be administered by a qualified healthcare professional in a clinical or hospital setting. Self-administration is strictly contraindicated because the exact dosage and proper injection technique are critical for safe and effective results.

Question 2

How does Lupi-HCG 5000 Injection help treat infertility?

Accepted Answer

The active ingredient, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), acts similarly to naturally occurring hormones essential for reproduction. In women, it stimulates the normal development of an egg and triggers its release during ovulation, which is vital for patients undergoing Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART), such as IVF. In men, it supports reproductive health by increasing sperm count.

Question 3

Can this injection affect the results of a home pregnancy test?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because this medicine contains HCG, the exact hormone that pregnancy tests detect, it can result in a false-positive pregnancy test. This false positive may happen if you take a serum or urine pregnancy test while actively using the medication or up to 10 days after your last injection.

Question 4

What are the most serious side effects I should watch out for?

Accepted Answer

While mild side effects like injection site pain, nausea, and headaches are common, seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe abdominal pain, swelling, or sudden weight gain. In women, these can be signs of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), a serious condition where the ovaries overreact to the medication and develop large cysts. Additionally, patients should know that this treatment increases the risk of multiple pregnancies (such as twins or triplets).

Question 5

Are there certain medical conditions that make it unsafe to use the Lupi-HCG 5000 injection?

Accepted Answer

You should not use this medication if you have a history of hormone-related cancers, such as breast, ovarian, or uterine cancer. Additionally, avoid it if you have tumors of the hypothalamus or pituitary gland, unexplained vaginal bleeding, active blood clotting issues, swelling of the veins, or if you have experienced a recent ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy outside the uterus).
