Mesalo Foam rectal foam contains mesalazine (also called mesalamine or 5-Aminosalicylic Acid) as its active ingredient. It is an anti-inflammatory agent that helps reduce swelling and irritation in the intestine. It is designed for rectal use and works locally in the lower part of the bowel to provide targeted relief. Mesalo Foam rectal foam is used to treat inflammation of the large intestine and rectum, a condition commonly known as ulcerative colitis. It is usually prescribed when symptoms affect the lower bowel area and need direct treatment. Mesalazine in Mesalo Foam rectal foam helps by calming inflammation in the intestinal lining. By reducing irritation and swelling, it helps ease symptoms like rectal discomfort, urgency, and bowel irritation over time. Mesalo Foam rectal foam should be used exactly as advised by your doctor. It is applied rectally, usually once daily at bedtime. It has to be inserted through the anus. It is not intended to be taken by mouth. Do not swallow. Some people may experience mild side effects such as abdominal discomfort or irritation at the application site, which are generally temporary.
