If I have surgery coming up, is there anything to tell my surgeon/anesthetist about using Misopt Eye Drop?

Yes, the beta-blocker (timolol) present in Misopt Eye Drop can impair certain heart reflexes and may affect responses during general anesthesia (risk of prolonged low blood pressure or difficulty restarting the heartbeat). Tell your surgeon/anesthetist that you use Misopt Eye Drop, as they may advise management for surgery.

Misopt Eye Drop is a combination of Dorzolamide and Timolol. It is used to lower the pressure within the eye (ocular hypertension) and for open-angle glaucoma. It works by reducing the production of aqueous humour (the fluid in the eye), which in turn lowers the eye pressure. It should not be used in children under the age of two. Misopt Eye Drops should be applied externally only. Avoid using contact lenses. Do not touch the dropper with your eye. Inform your doctor if you have heart or respiratory conditions or are taking other medications. You may experience eye irritation, a burning sensation, dryness, or blurred vision. If these symptoms do not resolve or worsen,
